Squash Blossom. 2.5" high x 4" diameter. Wheel-thrown red earthenware bowl with hand-painted white maiolica glaze.

This small bowl is wheel-thrown by the artist using red earthenware clay. It was biscuit fired to harden the clay and then glazed with white maiolica glaze before being hand-painted with a lovely and delicate squash blossom flower (a favorite of the artist). The glaze fired to 1942 degrees F. was done in an oxidation atmosphere.
