Bring color and liveliness to your surroundings with a beautiful handmade tile mural by Susan Martin Serra.

A tile mural can be permanently installed into stonework, drywall, or other materials – or it can be installed to allow later removal if desired. The advantages of using ceramic art tile with fireplaces, behind cook-tops, kitchen backsplash walls and similar areas are great. Tiles are durable, easy to clean and heat resistant. Even the most modest art tile accents can add interest and beauty to otherwise plain and ordinary surroundings. Because such features are generally considered permanent installations, art tile also adds value to any building where it is placed. It is a great selling feature and therefore a good investment as well.

Puzzle-piece Art Tile Murals

These unique creations are made of contoured tiles that fit together like a puzzle. The tiles do not interrupt the flow of the imagery like traditionally cut tiles. Instead, they are cut specifically to work with and enhance the design of the mural. The above mural, “The Ponies Went Up” contains over 70 very small hand-carved tile pieces. “Blue Skates” (below) is made up of 86 individually hand-carved pieces.
